Actu TV : Le retour du DIVA, sérieusement modernisé !

The name Diva is not new to the world of cinema. For years, Kino Flo has made it a benchmark for quickly achieving soft, clean, and pleasing light on faces.

With the Diva Lux 4, Kino Flo revives this philosophy, but clearly updates the platform: 400 W of power, RGBwWcW, four independent zones, integrated CRMX, and full network control.

On paper, that's a lot of technology. On set, the main advantage is having a versatile light source that is easy to use on its own and comprehensive enough to integrate into a much larger lighting setup.

400 W across the entire spectrum!

This is probably the first point to remember.

The Diva Lux 4 has 400 W of power across all its white points, with an adjustable color temperature from 2,700 to 9,900 K.

At 5,600 K, Kino Flo claims up to 11,729 lux at 1 meter.

But power alone obviously doesn't make a good cinema light.

Kino Flo uses an RGBwWcW architecture here, with several types of LEDs and two dedicated white sources. The goal is to obtain a cleaner and more consistent white light than with a simple RGB mix.

With a TLCI that can reach 99, we find what historically made Kino Flo so appealing: light designed primarily for the camera and skin tone rendition.

A large soft source of 84 × 51 cm

With a surface area of approximately 84 × 51 cm and a very wide beam angle of 106°, the Diva Lux 4 is naturally at ease when seeking an enveloping light source.

Interviews, faces, small fiction projects, studios, backgrounds, or ambient light: this is clearly the Diva's natural territory.

And when it's necessary to further increase the apparent size of the source or better control light spill, the panel is compatible with DoPchoice SNAPBAG and SNAPGRID.

So you can quickly go from a relatively compact panel to a much more refined source without having to rebuild your entire setup.

Four zones truly change the possibilities

The Diva Lux 4 is divided into four independently controllable zones.

And this feature becomes particularly interesting as soon as you start to move beyond a simple CCT adjustment.

You can work with different colors or intensities on the same surface, create variations, or integrate the projector into programmed effects from a console.

For a technician, this primarily means that a single projector can become much more versatile without adding several small sources around it.

Integrated CRMX

On today's sets, having to add an external DMX receiver to each light quickly becomes tedious.

Kino Flo therefore integrates LumenRadio CRMX directly into the Diva Lux 4.

This is great news for teams already working with CRMX transmitters who want to take the light out of the flight case, address it, and start working without adding an additional receiver, power supply, and cables.

And for larger installations, Kino Flo doesn't stop at CRMX.

The Diva Lux 4 also supports DMX/RDM, Art-Net, and sACN, with 5-pin XLR and etherCON connectivity.

It can therefore function as a standalone source on a small shoot or integrate into a complete network architecture in the studio.

Full Local Control

The Diva Lux 4 features a touch screen and a control wheel that provide direct access to key settings.

This is an important detail in the field: all network functions are available when needed, but they don't make the fixture unnecessarily complicated when you simply want to adjust a color temperature and intensity.

The Kino Flo True Match firmware centralizes these various settings and can be updated directly via USB-C.

Mains and battery power

The Diva Lux 4 operates on 100–240 V AC, but also features a 48 V DC input via 3-pin XLR.

This dual power supply opens up interesting possibilities for mobile setups or shoots where access to mains power is limited.

The light is supplied with its removable diffuser, mounting system, and a Junior pin for stand or hanging installation.

💡Our opinion at DopPro

The Diva Lux 4 is interesting because Kino Flo didn't just try to make a more powerful RGB panel.

The brand retains what made the Divas famous — a large soft source, beautiful white light, and camera-centric use — while adding what is expected of a professional fixture today: integrated CRMX, network control, multiple zones, and a very extended CCT range.

For us, its appeal is particularly evident for interviews, TV sets, studios, fiction, and configurations where a quickly deployable soft source is desired, without needing multiple accessories around the fixture.

The Diva Lux 4 therefore remains very much Kino Flo in its approach.

Easy to deploy for quick projects and much more comprehensive when connected to the rest of the set.
